Rare Victorian sterling and amber cigar / cheer root holder has repousse' metalwork depicting a scantily-clad fairy standing amid cattails and reeds. Comes in original velvet-lined leather case.
The sterling silver holder has a removable brass tone ring at the end. Mouthpiece is amber color bakelite or some polymer. Interior opening for cigar is graduated/funneled. Sterling base is in excellent condition. Design is 360 degrees. Mouthpiece has been used and some scratches and a little roughness just around the center air hole (most likely from original boring). Dates from late 1880s to 1910. Makes a thoughtful gift for the collector and/or tobacconist.
Hinged brown leather case shows a little wear to the outside as seen in photos, but overall remarkable condition. Opens and fastens securely.
Length of holder: 2 1/2" (sterling holder section 1 1/2")

This is an antique and has been used and as such shows gentle wear to mouthpiece. Item sold as-is. Has not been cleaned by me.
